Clean and Safe Product Delivery with Lunaescent Touch-Free Skincare Applicator

Until now, skincare products have traditionally been applied with fingers—but this method presents several problems:

  • Contamination: Fingers can introduce harmful microorganisms like bacteria and fungi
  • Reduced Efficacy: Frequent manual handling can degrade active ingredients
  • Unintended Absorption: With medicated products, absorption through the fingers can inadvertently deliver a higher dosage to person applying the product
  • Product Waste: Fingers absorb a significant amount of product, leading to unnecessary waste and increased cost over time

Raana’s son was diagnosed with severe food allergies and eczema as an infant. This diagnosis was followed by many years of application of steroids and other medicated creams to treat her son’s sore skin. Raana soon experienced adverse and substantial reaction to the medication on her fingers and hands. She tried using latex gloves but they would smear and waste the medicine. She tried cheap silicone brushes that were too flexible to effectively rub in the product, and she worried about their safety and toxicity. These skin issues led to the “eureka” moment that inspired the design and development of LUNAESCENT.

What are the key materials? +
  • Platinum silicone is just a name; the material itself does not contain any metal. It is called platinum because the manufacturing method involves two-component molding using platinum as a catalyst, which not only accelerates the synthesis of silicone but also ensures better stability of the resulting material.
  • Platinum silicone is often used in healthcare, biotechnology, and the food industry. This material is more flexible than regular silicone rubber and can handle quick changes in temperature. It is also very stable when exposed to active chemicals, so it can come into direct contact with food and the human body. It is often used in breathing masks, infusion tubes, intravenous lines, orthodontic braces, etc. Because the material is non-toxic and highly stable, it is also used in prostheses and implants.
